Priya Sisters, Haripriya and Shanmukhapriya were in Chicago on April 19 2013 for a performance.
The singing was of a high caliber. The highlight of the evening was a ragam tanam pallavi in the ragam Bindumalini. Saint Thyagaraja's "Entha Muddho" is the only well-known krithi in this ragam. I was quite surprised to listen to this new work, "Enduko Nee Krupa Raadu Bindu Malini". It was an excellent exposition of Bindumalini, demonstrating its nuances. It seems like a difficult and unwieldy ragam to perform.

It was an efficient and impressive demonstration of their skills and left me very satisfied.
It was nice to see the Priya Sisters in concert. I used to see them on TV back around 1990, when the Madras Telugu Academy concerts were being shown on Doordarshan, Hyderabad on Sunday mornings.
